Many scientific and technological areas require the use of very low temperatures in routine experiences. Liquid nitrogen is the most commonly used cryogenic liquid in scientific equipment today. Its low temperature is added to a great chemical stability and a low price so it is commonly used to permanently cool the instruments that require it. Its use is vital for the realization of experiences in various fields of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

The purpose of the service is to ensure the immediate supply of liquid nitrogen to research groups, university departments, and University General Services.

For this purpose, the Cryogenics Service provides the university community with a tank with a capacity of more than 6000 L, located in the car park of the CITIUS I building
